Still Life is an icon set which aims to provide realistic, easy, and non-distractive icons. I tried to create a theme with a more realistic look than the default GNOME icon theme, but not with too much gloss and eye-candy, to keep ist usable. It is mostly adhering to the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines and is still quite young and incomplete. This is a work in progress, much more things still to come.
The License is a non-commercial Creative Commons license that allows you to copy, distribute and change this icon set provided that:
* you give me credit
* you use this work for non-commercial purposes only
* you release changes under the same license
This means that you may repackage this set for Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, or whatever exotic platform you are using! Please tell me about whatever you are doing with this set, and don't repackage it for KDE (as KDE and GNOME have the same icon spec, there is no need to do a seperate package, we just need to make some symlinks).
Hey, i really liked these icons, but didn't like the blurriness at low resolutions. So, I went off and made a set of svg folder icons that cover all the sizes available, for nice crisp folders.
Its not a linux distro, it's a gnome-based gui for Solaris 10 & Solaris Express. but yes gnome is quite broken. I dont know if the Suse based SUN distro Sun Java Desktop i still around, but its not what i am using.
You have to use the GNOME Desktop Environment, otherwise it will not work. Drop the folder from the archive to ~/.icons (or /usr/share/icons, to make them available system wide). After that, open your theme preferences and select "Still Life".
